India’s KS Oils buys 50,000 acres of Indonesian palm plantations

More orangutans will surely suffer– now at the hands of Indian investors. So now it looks like the Indonesian government can shrug it’s shoulders and say ’sorry– it’s not us destroying the forest and killing every living creature!’

Isn’t it interesting how foreigner corporations from India, China and neighboring Malaysia are able to manipulate the laws and  get their hands on choice swathes of Borneo rainforest??? Whose interest is the Indonesian government serving? The Indonesian people or foreign businessmen? Think about it… now take action!

Palm oil is a terrible thing and we NEED to start taking action. Orangutans are expected to be extinct in a couple of years unless WE do something! There are so many easy ways to help; write a letter to a company using palm oil or sign an online petition. Here are two petitions you can sign:
    http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/palmoil/index.html
    http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/stop-palm-oil-in-masterfoods-usa

The first petion is asking the Girl Scouts not to use palm oil in their cookies and the second one is asking Masterfoods USA not to use palm oil in their products.

That is strange. I just understood from the company’s announcement that KS OILS is putting up plantation in sumatra island where there is absolutely not a single orang gutan. In fact there is no forest and the land is having just shrubs and unorganised rubber trees which are not yielding fruits. As such organg gutans are only there in deep kalimantan region of indonesia which is a seperate island itself.

Response from Orangutan Outreach: There are several thousand orangutans in Sumatra and they are critically endangered. Visit the Sumatran Orangutan Society’s website to learn more: http://www.orangutans-sos.org
