Compost is a female orangutan was originally from Perenggean. She arrived at the Nyaru Menteng Reintroduction Project on the 29th of August 2003, aged approximately 2 to 2.5 years old. She was 75% wild when she arrived at the project but she quickly adapted to our care. She has only one ear due to an accident where she pulled on an electrical cord and was electrocuted. Compost is probably one of our orangutans that has best adapted to forest life. She is now a little over 6 years old.
