Following next week’s season finale of “Meerkat Manor,” the channel is debuting another nature doc-cum-drama, “Orangutan Island,” at 9; the following week it assumes “Meerkat Manor’s” 8:30 p.m. Friday time slot. The meerkats may be feisty, but orangutans are only a few branches removed from humans on the evolutionary tree, and we shudder to think of how hard it would be to see one of them meet its end. Better keep those tissue boxes handy just in case.”
