HELLO! – I’m a FRIENDIMAL™! My name is Ori Tang, the baby Orangutan…
I am your ENDANGERED ANIMAL FRIEND.
My mother’s name is Teena and my father, King Tang is the giant orangutan.
My name, “Orangutan” means “Man of the woods”.
I am a primate– a shy and gentle ape.
I am also extremely strong. I have long arms and a shaggy body and I love to swing on vines. Like other apes I have no tail. I swing from vine to vine until I get too old and heavy. Then I sit and eat a lot!
We used to live throughout Asia, but now we are only found in Indonesia on the islands of Sumatra and Borneo.
I live with my family in trees deep in the forests.
Because we are so shy we keep to ourselves and only communicate with birds, frogs and butterflies.
My mother has one baby at a time. It takes about 8 1/2 months and we can live to be forty years old.
I eat mostly plants and insects and I like eggs and shellfish too.
My favorite foods are tropical fruits like bananas and mangosteens.
I also love the fruit called durian. It is smelly, but delicious!
My natural enemies are tigers and snakes.
My unnatural enemies are: Man! I’m endangered because of timbering, diminishing forests, clearcutting, poaching and kidnapping, being sold to undesirable zoos and roadside attractions…
and as pets on the black market.
You can be a FRIENDIMAL™, too- A friend to all animals!
HELP PROTECT ME FROM MY ENEMIES AND KEEP ME IN THE FOREST WHERE I BELONG!
With Love and Orangutan Hugs …. Ori Tang

cruelty of man.”
