Colorado Springs – If you’ve ever wondered why orangutans are so flexible, or just what makes a primate unique, this is your weekend to get those questions answered. Just stop by the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s Primate World at noon for Orangutan’s are Cool, one of six new animal behavior programs that the zoo holds each day.
Zoo managers found that when the keepers and trainers were working with the animals, it drew a large crowd. So, over the summer they developed six of those sessions into shows; Wings of Africa, Treetop Acrobats, Primates In Motion, Orangutans Are COOL, The Raven Show and Conservation in Your Own Backyard.
Zoo spokesman Sean Anglum says all six shows a scheduled to take place during the Thanksgiving weekend.
“You might have had that dying question that you’ve always wanted to know about orangutans, or about primate monkeys or about our raven that’s up in the loft; now’s the time to see the show, enjoy their natural behaviors and ask our keepers questions you’ve wanted to have answered,” Anglum said.
The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
