Molika

Molika is being cared for at the SOCP orangutan care center in Sumatra. She was confiscated in June 2018 from a small village in East Aceh by a government task force and a team from the Orangutan Information Centre (OIC). Molika had reportedly been kept illegally as a pet for two years before finally being handed over to the authorities.

It is against the law to buy, sell, trade or own an orangutan in Indonesia, yet this horrific practice continues throughout regions where orangutan habitat is being destroyed and replaced by oil palm plantations. Unfortunately it usually goes unpunished.

Molika spent a lot of time with humans and she will have to learn how to be a wild orangutan again. This will take time, but we'll be with her every step of the way... Thanks for supporting this lovely girl. {:(|}

YES! I want to adopt Molika!
