Baimah

MEET BAIMAH – A BOLD GIRL

Background Story

Baimah was surrendered by residents in East Kutai Regency where she had been kept as a pet for around 18 months. She was taken to BOS Foundation’s Samboja Lestari rehabilitation center on September 14, 2022. Baimah had no visible injuries but was overweight, which affected her ability to breathe through her nose. The baby girl was initially scared of the BOSF team. She clung to a pole and cowered when they tried to approach. Baimah was placed in the nursery with other babies of the same age. After calming down somewhat, she accepted being tucked into a cozy basket. This sweet new arrival underwent further examinations and monitoring, to ensure her optimum health and well-being.

Baimah Today

Baimah is receiving tender loving care from Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation at their Samboja Lestari Orangutan Center in East Kalimantan. She has made positive progress since her arrival. Upon starting Forest School her caretakers were in awe of Baimah’s boldness in climbing trees and her progress in socializing with other baby orangutans. Baimah was put on a healthy diet and was gradually introduced to new foods. This little darling lost weight and became much more active. Baimah is now a student in Forest School where she is learning many skills and making new friends. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for Baimah!
