Investment Policy

Effective Date: November 13, 2023

1. Purpose:

The purpose of this Investment Policy is to provide guidelines for the management and oversight of the investment of Orangutan Outreach ("the Organization") funds to preserve capital, generate income, and support the mission of the Organization.

2. Objectives:

The primary objectives of the investment strategy are to:

Preserve the principal amount of the invested funds.

Generate a reasonable rate of return in accordance with the Organization's risk tolerance.

Provide sufficient liquidity to meet operational needs.

3. Prudence and Fiduciary Responsibility:

The Organization, its Board of Directors, and investment managers will act in accordance with the highest standards of prudence and fiduciary responsibility in managing and overseeing investments.

4. Investment Authority:

The Board of Directors is responsible for approving the investment policy and overseeing investment activities.

The Executive Director is responsible for implementing the approved investment policy.

5. Investment Objectives:

Safety of Principal: Investments should prioritize the safety and preservation of the principal amount.

Liquidity: Maintain sufficient liquidity to meet the Organization's operational needs.

Rate of Return: Seek a reasonable rate of return given the risk tolerance, considering both short-term and long-term financial needs.

6. Permissible Investments:

Cash Equivalents: Short-term, highly liquid investments with maturities of three months or less.

Fixed-Income Securities: High-quality bonds and other debt instruments that align with the Organization's risk tolerance.

Equity Securities: Carefully selected equity investments consistent with the Organization's risk tolerance and mission.

Diversification: Diversify investments to manage risk and optimize returns.

7. Prohibited Investments:

Investments in speculative or high-risk instruments inconsistent with the Organization's mission.

Investments in entities involved in activities contrary to the Organization's values.

8. Risk Management:

Regularly assess and review the risk profile of the investment portfolio.

Establish risk tolerance levels and adjust the investment strategy accordingly.

9. Performance Monitoring:

Regularly monitor and evaluate the performance of the investment portfolio.

Periodically review the investment policy and adjust it as needed.

10. Reporting:

Provide regular reports on investment performance to the Board of Directors.

Disclose any material changes in the investment portfolio promptly.

11. Review and Revision:

This investment policy will be reviewed periodically and revised as necessary to ensure alignment with the Organization's goals and market conditions.

12. Approval:

This Investment Policy is to be reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors annually.
