MEET MONYO – A CLEVER CUTIE

Background Story

At the end of 2019, just before Covid-19 would change the world forever, the BOS Foundation was contacted by the local forestry authorities and asked to care for several baby orangutans who had been confiscated from small villages throughout the region. One of those babies was a little guy named Monyo. He and the other rescued infants immediately became best friends! Read more about their adventures here. After passing through quarantine, Monyo joined the Forest School 'Littlies' Nursery Group and began his rehabilitation journey.

Monyo Today

Monyo is being cared for at the BOS Foundation Nyaru Menteng Orangutan Rehabilitation Center in Central Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo). From the beginning, Monyo was not afraid of climbing trees and his caregivers knew he would soon gain many skills. Monyo has progressed through several levels of Forest School and is learning more every day! He still has a long journey ahead of him, with the goal of being returned to freedom in the forest. This will take many years as Monyo needs to perfect vital survival skills. You can support Monyo with a symbolic adoption as he learns and grows!

YES! I want to adopt Monyo!
