BOSF Orangutan Releases

Since the summer of 2012 the team at the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOSF) has been accomplishing something truly astonishing. They've released hundreds of rehabilitated orangutans into a safe, pristine forest — back to where they belong! There are still more than 400 orangutans being cared for by the BOS Foundation, so the releases will be ongoing for many years to come!

Thanks to your generous support, Orangutan Outreach has been able to make a valuable contribution to the BOSF Orangutan Release Program. We have provided the post-release monitoring team with funding and equipment such as tracking implants and radio tracking receivers. Read more. But this is only the beginning! How Does Your Donation Help?

• $10 allows BOSF to buy food and milk for an orangutan during the journey to freedom
• $25 covers the costs of one vehicle transporting 4 cages from the center to the airport
• $100 can buy field equipment for one staff member for the year (bags, boots etc.)
• $500 allows BOSF to buy GPS unit for tracking
• $1,000 allows BOSF to buy 1 radio tracking implant or covers the costs of health tests and genetic tests for one orangutan
• $1,500 covers the cost of air transport for one orangutan cage to the halfway transport point
• $5,000 covers the total cost to release an adult orangutan back into his or her forever home
